The Mutiny of Amistad is one of the most notorious events of the Abolitionism period. It culminates injustice, the fight for righteousness, and it developed America as we know it today. This day in history - July 2nd, 1839 - serves as a reminder of the notion that we should fight for our civil freedoms if they are taken away.

The ship Amistad was where the chaos broke out. 53 African-Americans were illegally captured in Cuba, deeming the mission "successful". However, the African-Americans broke free and fought for their righteous freedom. They were eventually found by an American ship off the coast. To the left, is the primary account from the Supreme Court supporting the Africans for being allowed to act in self-defense.
